Video Auckland housing density plan voted down
A whopping 22 new Auckland locations are now million dollar suburbs after house prices soared in December 2015.
According to the QV Property Report, Auckland is the only city in the North island where suburbs’ median house prices are more than one million dollars.
Auckland as 62 million-dollar suburbs, compared to Wellington where Seatoun is the closest to breaking the million dollar median, sitting at $990,600.
In the Rodney district, Silverdale joined the million-dollar club with Omaha, while Onetangi and Oneroa on Waiheke Island toppled a million dollar median house price in December 2015.
In just a year, Pinehill (North Shore), Kingsland (Auckland City), and half Moon Bay (Manukau) house price median increased by 20.7 per cent.
James Wilson, QV Homevalue registered valuer told NZME transport and school zones play a major role in what areas are increasing in value.
"Particular parts of Half Moon Bay have a really good school zone, Macleans College zoning," he said.
"Suburbs that are now in the million-dollar club they've all got a common theme.
"They're generally well established, they're well serviced, they've got good amenities, such as schooling and transport routes and transport hubs."
North Shore has 21 suburbs where the average house price is above one million dollars.
