The government has signed an agreement with iwi and construction company to build 100 home development in New North Road Mt Albert.
Special housing area status was granted earlier in the year to allow the 100 home development on the site rather than 24 under the old planning regulations. The average price of these homes is said to be $573,000.00.
Construction is due to start July 2017 with the first homes to be completed by May 2018 and the rest in 2018 and 2019.
Another 196 home project in Massey East has had earthworks started last week. 30% of these homes would be for social housing.
Building reforms appear to be working with Auckland doubling in residential activity over the past 3 yrs to 7 billion per year.
Looks like tradesmen will be in high demand for years to come with no signs of slowing down.
